About Me

Dave Batten

In 2005 I undertook a course in Swedish Massage purely out of interest and to learn something new. My studies led to a deep interest in how massage can help alleviate numerous physical problems as well as a conviction that “there must be more to this!”

As a result of this belief, I have continued to study in order to increase both the breadth and depth of my knowledge in order to be better able to reduce pain and improve quality of life for my clients. I completed qualifications in Sports Massage (2006), Advanced Sports Therapy (2008) and Clinical Massage Therapy (2010). Additionally I have undertaken numerous short courses in various techniques such as stretching, working with Carpal Tunnel symptoms and Orthopaedic Assessment Techniques.

Through application of the various techniques I have learned, clients have reported relief from symptoms ranging from Frozen Shoulder, Iliotibial Band Syndrome (ITB), muscle tightness, neck spasms, low back pain, runners knee and other Musculoskeletal problems. Often, a postural assessment will indicate imbalances within the body that respond very well to Remedial Massage techniques.

Sports and Remedial Massage isn’t restricted to sports people. Many of the aches and pains of daily living, ranging from a ‘bad back’ from gardening, tightness in the shoulder and arm from repetitive keyboard use, tension headaches, and leg pain from conditions such as Plantarfasciitis have been reduced by my treatment techniques, according to feedback from clients.

I also work supporting young athletes locally, and recently went through a vigorous selection process, gaining a place working at the London 2012 Olympic Games, providing Sports Massage to international Track and Field athletes competing in the Olympic Stadium.
